The Santa Rosa Island Triathlon Inc. is pleased to announce that registration is open for our 2nd annual Tri The Island Triathlon on June 10th! We had a great turnout in 2016 and a full field enjoyed great weather and a professionally-produced, safe and enjoyable race that was a great experience for first-timers and veteran triathletes as well. This triathlon will again be on beautiful Pensacola Beach, FL. and will be a USAT-sanctioned event consisting of a 300 yard swim, a 10 mile bike and a 2 mile run.
If it’s your first triathlon, it will be a comfortable introduction to the challenges of multi-sport competition. It will satisfy seasoned athletes’ need for speed as it’s a fast, flat course with excellent racing conditions. The event will provide amazing scenery, a quality race shirt, an awesome finishers’ medal, precision timing and an excellent post-race celebration and awards ceremony. RESULTS HERE for the 21st annual Santa Rosa Island Triathlon, presented by the Zarzaur Law Firm, on beautiful Pensacola Beach! Thanks to our sponsors, triathletes, valuable volunteers and spectators – it was great having you with us for an amazing day on Santa Rosa Island. See you at the Tri The Island Triathlon in June 2017!
The Santa Rosa Island Triathlon is a USA Triathlon-sanctioned event and is governed by the USAT Competitive Rules. These rules mandate that all cyclists ride on the far right of all roads on the bicycle course. You MUST ride single-file and you must maintain a distance of 23 feet (or more) between you and other cyclists.
Passing must be accomplished quickly and can only be done on the left-hand side of the bicycle being passed. There can be no passing on the right of another cyclist. There can be no riding abreast. There can be no drafting. There are penalties for violations of these rules, but much more importantly, safety on the roads must be a priority. Have a great race and be safe!!
Every year we request manpower support from the Marine Corps Aviation Training Support Group (MATSG) at the Pensacola Naval Air Station for the events we put on in the Northwest Florida area. They always respond in force with energy and enthusiasm and help to make our events successful. Here is a picture of the fine young people who worked with us last year to make the 2012 SRITRI a tremendous success. Thanks very much Marines, we appreciate it!
