A love of running and being outdoors was always a part of Michael. He possessed an endurance like no other — An endurance that carried him 8 years past a brain cancer diagnosis in 2012 that should have only given him 15 months.
In that eight years he finished a Santa Rosa Triathlons, countless other races, and a damn Half Ironman on chemo. But more importantly he gave those eight years and whole self to his family, particularly his wife Margo, daughter Cora, and son Roman.
Michael took his last breath and finally let his body rest on August 8, 2020, but he will never leave us. My brother once notably said — "Race to the finish line and towards each other". Team Triton will be racing in his memory on October 2nd, 2021 and while we may not be moving as fast as the rest, we’ll certainly be racing towards each other.
HOW TO SUBMIT YOUR NOMINEE
Do you know an athlete that will be racing on race day who has overcome some sort of adversity? Someone who has had a life changing event, whether it is a medical condition or a a life tragedy but has continued to push forward to race/train and will be joining us on race day as an participating athlete.
We want their story and why you think they are deserving of our Michael Stolfi Team Triton Award. This award will be given on race day at our awards presentation. We would like it to be a surprise for the athlete.
